Vacuum Cleaner Attachments
There are attachments that come standard with all vacuum cleaners like an upholstery tool. Then there are some attachments that you can special order. Here’s a quick rundown on the types of tools I can think of:
• Soft brush tool – for cleaning ceiling fans and lampshades or things that require a softer touch.
• Flex hose– makes the job of vacuuming stairs easier
• Flexible Crevice Tool – helps get dirt in small spaces
• Rug brushes – for cleaning floor rugs
• Window blind attachment – makes the job of cleaning blind so much easier
Oh, and one more. This is a really important one! Dryer Vent Vacuum Cleaner Attachment
The attachments can certainly make your job a little easier and they do a really efficient job too. For some people vacuuming isn’t just a matter of house cleaning. No. It can be the difference in someone’s health and the attachment tools are a necessary part of doing an excellent job in cleaning.
When choosing the best vacuum cleaner, you’ll want to consider how versatile it is. For instance, if you have hardwood floors, you’ll want a vacuum cleaner that will not only clean the carpet in your bedrooms but can safely and effectively clean your hardwood floors.
If you use a vacuum not meant for hardwood floors, you run the risk of scratching them as well as the baseboards.
Do you have tile floors? Vacuum cleaners can clean tile too, and a lot faster than sweeping them. This, by the way, is healthier because when you sweep, the dust gets stirred up in the air.
But to add to a vacuum’s versatility – there are some made that will steam clean your floors giving them a fresh look and killing more germs too. This type can clean upholstery and other types of flooring as well.
Of course, you need to consider how often you would need to steam clean. Do you have pets, or have heavily trafficked carpet? If not, then perhaps at least once a year would be enough.
Determining Your Needs
Here’s something to think about too. If you have children and/or pets, you will need a different vacuum cleaner than someone who does not have children, pets, and may live in a smaller house or apartment.
Having children or pets require a high quality and durable vacuum cleaner . Having a larger family requires vacuuming more frequently to keep the dirt and pet hair to a minimum.
If you do have pets, you’ll want to make sure you have a good upholstery brush for the furniture. Sitting on a couch or chair where your dog or cat has been lounging kind of makes for a mess on your clothes.
Keep in mind, too, that the better the filter your vacuum has, the healthier it is for you and your family. A vacuum cleaner with a good filter is a great help for allergies, asthma, or chronic lung issues.
A good vacuum cleaner filter can make a big difference for those with allergies or asthma because they do a great job of keeping the dust and allergens trapped. The less dust and allergens, the better allergies and asthma are controlled. Look for a machine that says it is allergy or asthma friendly.
A good vacuum cleaner will help to keep your carpet newer looking for a longer time. If you have an area that gets walked on more frequently but your machine isn’t picking up as good as you’d like anymore, you can just imagine how the carpet in that area is going to look soon. Those spots will have dirt and debris left even after using a substandard vacuum. They soon will become stained and begin to wear out.
A good vacuum cleaner should come with a good warranty. The warranty speaks volumes about the quality. The manufacturer is going to stand behind a good machine and not be afraid to offer a good warranty because they know the machines stand the test of time.
What’s a good warranty? It’s pretty easy to find a vacuum cleaner with a twelve month warranty. However, a good machine is going to have a two to five year warranty with the better ones having a five year warranty.
What happens if your warranty has run out and your machine breaks? Some won’t last a year. I’ll tell ya what happens. You have to pay out the ying yang to get it fixed. It’s expensive having a vacuum cleaner repaired. Sometimes you may not be able to find someone who repairs the brand you have and where does that leave you then (Besides with a dirty floor)?
Just avoid all the expense and hassle by making sure you get a good warranty. 😉
Let’s say someone buys a vacuum cleaner for $80. The thing breaks the day after the warranty runs out. (You guessed it…a one year warranty.) So, she buys another $80 machine. The same thing keeps happening year after year. After replacing it seven times, she then begins to wonder why in the world she didn’t just go ahead and spend that $400 to begin with because now she’s already spent a total of $560 on this $80 vacuum cleaner!
Of course, you do have to consider what you can afford with your budget. Just keep in mind the long term affordability factor.
Buy the very best vacuum cleaner that you can possibly afford and make sure you choose one from a company that is reputable and has stellar customer service.
