Thanks for coming over to my About page. I’m excited to share a bit about who I am and why I’m here doing this blog thing.
I also hope to get to know you so I figured I might as well kick this thing off.
My name is Darlene. I’m not famous, rich or stunningly perfect in every way. I am, however, lucky enough to have a beautiful family and blessings abounding in my life. I’d like to introduce you to just a few of them.
I am, first of all, a wife, mother and grandmother. My wife is a beautiful, talented lady with whom I’ve been blessed to share nearly 30 years. Between us we have six children and ten grandchildren. Every single one of them is precious and amazing in their own special way.
It’s really quite amazing to watch so many you love become who they are meant to be!
Our home base consists of my wife and I, of course, two of my adult disabled kids and my third is here for a stop gap. We also have one grandchild, four cats, three dogs and Mr. Spud. Oh yeah, he’s our adopted guinea pig. I say adopted because he came to us by way of a grandson whose outgrown him, then a daughter who moved in as a stop gap.
Funny thing is, Mr. Spud decided we were a good gang to hang out with permanently. And by the way, the grandchild is almost grown and there’s no insinuation just because I tossed her into the intro line with the fur babies.
I feel it’s critical you get to know my gang so you can understand my “why.” Perhaps you will find some part of your own situation.
My two youngest children (33 and 31 now) have Fragile X. My baby boy (the 31 year old) also has cystic fibrosis and problems with a mood disorder and extreme mania at times. Yep, he’s a handful, but he’s a super kid.
My wife suffers with multiple autoimmune disorders, chronic pain and depression.
I figure just introducing the conditions we live with every day is enough for you to begin to understand my “why.” I want to improve the lives of my loved ones. Here are just a few of things I have planned in our life redesign.
- Nutritional impact for
- pain (joints, nerves and more)
- inflammation (joint, tissues, lungs, etc.)
- depression and mood swings, even hyperactivity
- weight loss and weight balance
- decrease health risks
- Home toxicity
- decrease allergies
- decrease health risks
- improve symptoms of depression
- Home environment
- cleaner, clearer, less clutter
- more organized
- more feng shui (more mood enhancing)
- Life balance
- home, family, work, community (how does it fit together?)
- me time (do you ever enjoy time for you?)
- peace, reflection, journaling
I guess you might say, I’ve got a lot planned for this life redesign. I’ve come face to face with the fact that nothing is going to change unless I do, so here goes!!!!
How about you? Are you tired of waiting on that huge epiphany, that will probably never come. Are you tired of hoping and wishing? More importantly, are you ready to do something about all those things you want to change in life?
If so, then you’ve found just the right place to come hang out.
Home & Garden Geek is the right place at the right time.
Welcome aboard! Now, let’s get to that redesign
